Carolina

There was a long period of time , where i forgot for a while about my lighters. I was busy with raising my daughter, at the same time tried myself in retail business which did not pull out as what I expected. Started to do a lot of freelance job. So the lighters was neglected, my wife just put the small collection that I have in a box and stored it somewhere in my store room.
Apparently the interest all came back when my new company (just join about less than a year) sent me for a knowledge transfer project in South Carolina, USA. I was in Greenville, South Carolina in December 2006 for about a month. Seriously Greenville is beautiful. Seriously beautiful.
Well as I am in US, i might as well buy myself a momento, (I already got a list from my wife, parents and in laws to buy so I think I had to buy something for myself too). So while walking through one the many shopping malls there,
I found a really nice zippo with the US emblem engraved on it.
I called it Carolina. heheheheh

After hearing my interest in collecting metal lighters, a friend of mine gave his zippo to me as a present ( I think he wants to get rid of it). It was a slim ZIPPO SPECTRUM, well used but still in good condition. The zippo is the first 2nd hand zippo I have for my collection.
As with other lighters I have before, I put a name on the zippo. I called it Mat Khir, in reference to my friend. Thanks Bro for the zippo.

Today is the first day , my team started the follow the sun shift.
No more night shift, only 12 hrs work from 7am to 7pm. It was hectic at first , with new process and job scope, I turn my trouble to coffee and a box of Marlboro soft pack.
This reminds me of my lookalike zippo lighter ( mind u.. it is not a zippo or a rippo) that I call the Fading Marlboro. It look old and and worn, the paint of a Marlboro logo is already faded after worn of use for more than 4 years. I think I bought it in early 2003, at Seremban's R&R near the PLUS
Highway. I use it as a replacement so that I wont worn out my First Love ..... refer to my previous post.
Any way here is the picture of the lighter.

I got my first zippo in November 2002. It was a Zippo Slim Venetian - High Polish Chrome that I bought in Johor Baharu. Disappointed not being able to buy the fern leaf zippo in Auckland, I choose to buy one in JB. It is the most cherished zippo from my collection.
It has been my best friend ever since. Best friend a smoker can have .....
I never thought by buying it, I would start an interest in collecting metal lighters especially zippo lighter

At long last, I finally started it. This will be my first post of my metal lighter collection site. And to commemorate of the first post, I give you my first metal lighter I bought when I was in Auckland. A simple lighter, bronze colored ( not good of a quality, I guess they just sprayed it with bronze paint....).
The front of the lighter is a map of New Zealand. I bought it in 2002 for NZ$2.00 . Initially, I wanted to buy a zippo lighter with an engrave fern leaf at the front of the lighter, but I was only carrying like a NZ$40 per day quota for all my expenses. So unfortunately I had to pass the NZ$70.00 zippo.
Well what to do.....
